Parochial Church Council Report of PCC meeting held on Wednesday 19 May 2010 The PCC meeting began with Holy Communion as it began another year with new members. It was agreed to co-opt Emma Turner-Bone and Eric Linford. Election of officers Pete Spiers was elected chair, Les Railton as vice-chair, Eric Linford as treasurer, Andrew Tate as secretary and Bob Dowson as standing committee member. School reports The PCC noted that Chris Roberts had decided to retire as Foundation governor and thanked her for 13 years’ invaluable service. There was still a need for 2-3 Foundation governors to be appointed at next meeting. St. Michael’s had had an OFSTED inspection and a SIAS inspection (Christian ethos) and both had gone well. Appointment for Headteacher would be made next week. Other items It was agreed to repair the boundary wall of the churchyard because of the generous response of the congregation to Giving in Grace and to fit an alarm for the Crosby room. PCC received a report from Steve Matthews on plans to submit a bid for a grant to complete re-development of churchyard in 2011 from the Big Lottery Fund. It was agreed in principle to contribute £6250 on the basis that this was the final phase of re-development and thanked him once again for all the work so far. Paul Beardwood, buildings co-ordinator reported that there would need to be a new heating system in the church hall as the old one is on its last legs. He will bring a report as to the options for next PCC meeting. A delegation of financial decisions to treasurer and standing committee was agreed. It was reported that Sefton deanery as a whole were unconvinced about the need for a youth worker across its parishes but were more willing to consider a children or a families’ worker. Further discussion would need to take place. It was agreed to ask Bishop James to transfer the Reader licence of Alison Wotherspoon to St Luke’s. It was agreed that following on from the Mission Shaped Introduction course, the SMT and PCC would review the activities where we have most contact with the local community to see how we could ‘strengthen what we have’ and develop our mission.this page was last modified on 8 January 2011 |
