| Welcome | Do you ever feel out of place with your family or friends because of your faith? Is it better to put up and shut up or raise objections? |
| Worship | Sing the song “Be bold be strong for the Lord your God is with you.” God has blessed us with many blessing. Name some of the blessings God has bestowed upon you and thank him for them. |
| Word | Read Joshua 1.10-18 1. What was the agreement God made with the children of Israel (Deuteronomy 11.22-25). The covenant based on the 10 commandments was a two way agreement and blessing depended on obedience. How does disobedience to God damage our blessing today? 2. Joshua 2 is the story of the two spies and the prostitute Rahab. How did she show her faith? (Hebrews 11.31, James 2.25) What do you make of the New Testament’s affirmation of Rahab the prostitute? Is God’s grace more inclusive than ours? 3. These stories show the importance of faith, obedience, and purity. In 2 Corinthians 6.14-18 Paul warns of the dangers of mixing with idolaters. 1 Corinthians 10.1-2 gives further warning. Can we be overconfident and not see danger coming! (1 Corinthians 10.13)? In what ways can we be guilty of idolatry by having other Gods before the Lord? 4. In Joshua 1.13 God promises a place of rest. In Hebrews 4:1-11 we are warned about failing to enter our rest. What is this rest and how can we secure it? |
| Witness | Pray for opportunities to speak of your faith to those who are searching. Pray that we will understand when our values do not match our beliefs so that we can be a true blessing to those around us. |
