God's Call
1: The Importance of God's Call

Welcome If you could be a musical instrument, which one would you be and why?
Worship Tell the group to imagine that they are about to be cast onto a desert island. Read Psalm 103 and ask them to choose one sentence, phrase of verse which they would like to take with them to remind them of God. Write it down on a piece of paper, swop them with each other and then invite the group to use them to worship Him.
Word

Ephesians 2:1-10

We are particularly looking at verse 10 but we cannot ignore what has gone before.

vv 1-3: How does Paul describe what life was like before becoming a Christian?
vv 4-7: What did God do and why did He do it?
vv 8-9: If we are saved by the things we do (works), how would that affect the way we acted/spoke/lived? If we are saved by the things we believe in (faith), how does that affect the way we act/speak/live?
v 10: What does it mean to be God’s workmanship/handiwork/what he has made us? What is our purpose as a Christian? Give examples of what ‘good works’ might mean? Will they be different things for different people or the same for everyone? Why is it important that we find out what God’s calling is for each one of us? How will we know what God’s calling is? Does God’s calling ever change or is it fixed?

Witness Pray that by the end of these 5 sessions, each member of the group will be able to say with confidence what God is calling them to do and to be able to express it to others.
