GIVING IN GRACE

Study 4
THE GENEROSITY OF GRACE
2 Corinthians 9:6-15

Welcome

Ask each member to tell the rest of the group about one thing they have planted in the garden? Why did they plant it? What happened? (if they have never planted something, why is that?)

Make the point that if we want particular plants in the garden, we have to put them there!

Worship Think about the material blessings that God has given us: food, shelter, clothing etc. Remind yourselves that everything we have comes from God in the first place. Read Psalm 103. Invite each member of the group to use a verse or phrase and turn it into praise.
Word

Read the passage:

vv 6-9

  • Explain the laws of sowing and reaping?
  • What does it mean to see giving as investing?
  • Is it true that if we invest in God's harvest we will have all that we need?
  • Why does God love a cheerful giver?

vv 10-14

  • Does God financially reward those who give generously? If He does, what are we to do with the rewards?
  • What, does Paul say, happens when we give? List the effects,
  • What are the benefits we receive from giving?
  • Can giving become selfish?
Witness

a) Make sure you all return your response forms this weekend!!

b) Look around the area and see if there is somewhere that could do with some bulbs. Plant them and wait until the spring!!
