Our First Eco-congregation Award

We are delighted to announce that the Green Team have been successful in achieving our first Eco-congregation award. Following a visit by the assessors (Don Thompson and Phil Lee) on 10 March 2009 we received the award on 28 March 2009.

The assessors particularly commended the following aspects of the work we have undertaken.

• Keeping a detailed record of progress including folder and photographs
• The positive attitude of the ‘Green Team’ and their enthusiasm to try new things and take on strategic responsibilities to achieve their aim

The Award lasts until the end of 2011 when we are encouraged to apply again. The assessors identified some key areas for us to consider in the future.

• Identify and encourage other churches/faith groups in the locality to become Eco aware
• Continue to develop opportunities to identify worship with stewardship of the environment
• Ensure a record of progress is kept up to date and easily accessible to all members of the congregation to remind them what has been accomplished
