Gift Day 2009

The re-ordering and re-building is in three phases: phase 1 is the vestry (starting in February 2009), phase 2 is re-roofing the church (planned for autumn 2009) and phase 3 is the internal re-ordering (2010).

We want to see the Kingdom of God growing in people’s lives and across the community of Crosby. We have a responsibility to past, present and future generations to look after this building and to honour God.

The ‘credit crunch’ will affect people in different ways. We accept that people’s ability to respond to the Gift Day will vary but that, as always, people should respond to God’s direction. We should start praying about our response now and making plans.

Nevertheless, people will be challenged to give ‘beyond their experience’ as the target is £100,000.

Ezra 1:5 reminds us of the importance of God ‘moving people’s hearts’ and thus the priority of prayer.

Diocesan advice is that charitable trusts would probably be of no help to us and that significant sums of money are not usually raised in the local community and ‘occasional’ users of the church.

On Sunday 15 March printed information for all members of the church will be given out with further explanation.

On Saturday 9 May everyone will be invited to come to church to give their gift. It will also be an Open Day for the community to ‘come and see’.

On Sunday 10 May we will hold one service of celebration for all three congregations at 10.30am followed by lunch together when we will announce how much people have given.
